Home Remedies to Get Rid of Swollen Feet

Swollen feet is a common problem that can make anyone’s routine life difficult. The issue -arises when fluid accumulates in the tissues results in swelling known as edema. It can occur for several reasons such as being overweight, standing or sitting for long time periods, aging, and pregnancy, lack of physical exercises, poor circulation and nutritional deficiencies.

Moreover, an injury or surgery of leg, ankle or foot can also cause swelling in your feet. People who have diabetes, kidney diseases, heart problems and pregnant women are likely to suffer from this difficulty.

If the issue increases, discomfort and difficulty in walking and standing also increase. Other symptoms can be pain, inflammation and redness in the feet.

There are plenty of effective remedies that can help in reducing the issue of swollen feet. If pain lasts for long, consulting doctor is necessary as it can be a sign of heart, kidney or liver issues.

Massage :

Foot massage is one of the best home remedies for reducing the problem of swollen feet. It creates pressure on the affected area that helps in relaxing muscles and improving circulation. It also encourages excess fluid drainage that reduces swelling.  You need to rub some warm mustard oil on the affected area.

Massage gently and avoid too much pressure. Do it several times a day.

Massaging feet after taking shower is most effective way to reduce swollen feet problems. Applying an Ayurvedic pain relief oil is one of the most appropriate ways to get relief from the swollen or inflamed feet.

Epsom Salt :

Epsom salt works fast to reduce swollen feet health issues and alleviates pain and discomfort. The magnesium sulfate in it is easily absorbed through the skin and helps in improving circulation and reducing swelling. It works in an appropriate manner for relaxing for painful and tired muscles.

Mix ½ cup of Epsom Salt in warm water.

Soak your swollen feet in it for 10 to 15 minutes and repeat the process in alternate days.

Lemon Water :

Intake of lemon water helps flush out excess toxins from the body. This can reduce swelling in the feet and other areas of the body caused by water retention. This way your body remains hydrated and gets anti-inflammatory benefits.

You need to mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in a cup of warm water and sweeten it with a little honey. Drink this mixture for daily in the morning on an empty stomach.

Apple Cider Vinegar :

Apple cider vinegar helps in reducing swelling in feet. Its high potassium content helps in reducing fluid retention – a common cause of swelling in feet. You have to simply mix equal amounts of warm water and raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

After this, soak a towel in the solution, wring out the excess liquid and then wrap the towel around your swollen feet. Do this for 5 times a day.

Moreover, you can also add 2 tablespoons of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. You need to simply drink the mixture twice a day.

Coriander Seeds :

Coriander seeds are one of the effective home remedies for swollen feet. The anti-inflammatory property of these seeds helps in reducing swelling and improving circulation.

Firstly, you need to add 2 to 3 teaspoons of coriander seeds to 1 cup of water. Secondly, boil it until the quantity reduces by half. Finally, strain the solution let it cool slightly and drink it.

Drink it daily until you get relief.

Magnesium :

Magnesium deficiency in the body can result in swelling in feet. So, eating foods loaded with magnesium can help fight this very problem.

Eat magnesium-rich foods like dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, fish, avocado, bananas and dark chocolate. You can take also magnesium supplements, but consulting doctor is necessary.

Contrast Hydrotherapy :

Hydrotherapy includes both cold and warm, is highly effective for reducing swelling in feet. Warm water helps improve circulation and cold water is helpful to reduce swelling and inflammation.

You have to fill 2 tubs- one with cold water and other with warm water. After this, you have to soak your feet in the warm water for about 3 to 4 minutes. And immediately put your feet in the cold water for about 1 minute. And repeat the process alternatively for 15 to 20 minutes.

Moreover, you can also apply Dr. Ortho Ayurvedic medicinal oil to massage the painful area. The oil is made of herbs and good to heal the pain and swelling in feet.
