Joint pain – Ayurvedic self care routine

From the ancient times, the use of herbs for alleviating the health problems has been practiced and has shown remarkable results in treating various ailments such as joint pain. Ayurveda is one of the oldest healthcare systems of the world which states that an individual is bundle of five elements that are earth (prithvi), water (jal), fire ( agni), air ( vayu) and ether or space ( akash). These elements are known as pancha maha bhutas. These pancha-mahabhutas combine into tri-doshas force that governs and determine our physical and mental conditions. Joint pain is also arises due to imbalance of doshas in the body. To relieve from joint pain you have to manage your daily routine which help to sooth the tri-doshas in the body.

  1. Abhyangas:

Abhyangas is term used in Ayurveda for self massage and it is described as a one of essential part of daily routine. Massage twice a day gently with Dr.Ortho Ayurvedic oil over the affected joint. Take 5 to 10 ml oil on your palm and apply and massage gently for 10-15 minutes over affected joints. Dr.Ortho Ayurvedic oil helps to increase the blood circulation around the joint and provide a soothing and calm effect.

  1. Dietary supplements:

Dietary supplements are essential to relieve from join pain. Dietary supplements can be minerals, vitamins, herbs, fatty acids and fiber.   1. Exercise:

A low impact exercises are always preferred for patients with joint pain. Exercises such as swimming and bike riddig are one of the best exercises which put a low pressure over the joints.

  1. Eat Seasonally:

Eating seasonally fruits and vegetables are helpful to improve your digestion system. As per season, it is assumed that vata season is remaining from November to March and after this Kapha season starts. Kapha season is existed from March to July and in last, Pitta season starts from August to October. It is also a reason due to which Vata is the bitter, damp cold of winter, Pitta is the heat of summer, and Kapha is spring. To keep body in a balanced state seasonal fruits and vegetables works synergistically.

  1. Yoga: Yoga means “union” or “to join together” in Sanskrit and it helps to maintain the balance between mind, soul and body. It also helps to maintain balance between tri-doshas. You can try yoga postures as advised by yoga practitioners. Use Proper yoga blocks and cushions to prevent the injury or alleviation of joint pain.
  2. Drink luke warm water: Drink a luke warm lemon water in morning to wash your Gastrointestinal tract and clear toxics from kidneys. If your digestion is slow then you can add ½ tea spoon of ginger root powder in it.
